About The New Context
THE NEW CONTEXT is an ideas magazine about the culture and politics of international affairs. Its content is animated by classroom and seminar debates within The New School’s Graduate Program in International Affairs. That program, founded in 2001, has actively engaged with debates in the field, including critical approaches to international relations in the wake of 9/11 and the so-called War on Terror and, more recently, attempts to decolonize international institutions and global governance systems. It comes out online. The original Context Magazine was published in print between 2005 and 2009 and later enjoyed a brief online presence. The New Context was launched in December 2024.
The views expressed by our contributors do not necessarily represent those of The New School or the editor of THE NEW CONTEXT.

SUBMISSIONS
The New Context welcomes submissions from across The New School and beyond. If you would like to publish a piece in one of our monthly issues, please send in a pitch to either JacobsS@newschool.edu or pendn980@newschool.edu.
Our content is not restricted by theme or location, but there are a few guidelines to keep in mind:
An essay (800-900 words): This could take the form of an op-ed, a shortened academic essay, reflection on a topic, etc.
A review (800-900 words): A relevant book, movie, or other form of media.
An interview (1200-1500 words).
Your article should ideally take one of above mentioned forms, or propose something different if desired. The pitch should explain the significance of the chosen topic, and provide a brief outline/summary of the same.
Note: The deadline to submit drafts is usually the 15th of every month, and new issues go live towards the end of the month once articles are edited.
We look forward to reading your pieces, and hope to provide not only a platform but also a shelter for your thoughts and ideas.
